This scholarship is a one-time grant for a high-school graduate who resides in Jackson County and whose goals are consistent with Kiwanis values of leadership and community service. The selected applicant will have demonstrated potential for successful post-secondary academic study as demonstrated by high-school ACT or SAT test scores, academic class standing, and recommendation letters. He/she will also have a record of extra-curricular activities, volunteerism, work experience and academic achievement consistent with Kiwanis standards.
The value of this scholarship is $2000. This scholarship can be used at a college, university, community college, or other post-secondary school which is accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges or an equivalent regional accrediting body. Application deadline is March 31, 2010. Winners will be announced May 24, 2010

(2) Two letters of recommendation—Only one can be from a teacher, counselor or school. Administrator. A second recommendation letter can be from a past or present employer, a supervisor of a community service activity, or other responsible person who can vouch for your integrity, ability, and spirit of helping others.

Dear Guidance Counselor / Student Advisor:
This letter is to inform you of scholarship opportunities offered by the Kiwanis Club of Jackson. We will be awarding two non-renewable $2,000 scholarships and are seeking your assistance in getting the word out to seniors in your school.
The scholarship is being offered to any graduating high school student who resides in Jackson County. The program is also open to home-schooled students. The money can be used at any four-year college or university, community/junior college, or other post-secondary school accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges or an equivalent regional accrediting body.
See the above application instructions which define the necessary criteria and requirements for this scholarship. Please notify any interested college-bound senior; instruct him/her to access our web site at www.jacksonkiwanis.com, print out the above application instructions; prepare the application on their own word processor, and mail it with two letters of recommendation and a high-school transcript to the address shown at the bottom of the application instructions.
The application deadline is March 31, 2010. Winners will be announced May 24, 2010. The Kiwanis Club of Jackson will notify all participating schools and applicants of the scholarship winners.
